Did you know that the U.S. throws out 25 million televisions, 47.5 million computers, and 100 million cell phones? This, along with other old electronics, adds up to 3.3 million tons of e-waste a year–just in the U.S. The total increases to 40 million pounds of e-waste a year worldwide.
As I’ve mentioned before, e-waste is highly toxic to the environment. Old CRT computer monitors and televisions can contain up to 8 pounds of lead. If e-waste isn’t recycled responsibly, it might end up in a place like Guiyu, China. (If you recycle with us, we guarantee that won’t happen!)
How much e-waste do you produce a year?
