The Greenest Electronics Companies: 2011 Edition

In January, we posted about a Greenpeace survey ranking green electronics. The 2011 edition is out and there have been some notable changes.

As shown by the graph above, the ten “greenest” companies surveyed were:

  1. HP
  2. Dell
  3. Nokia
  4. Apple
  5. Philips
  6. Sony Ericsson
  7. Samsung
  8. Lenovo
  9. Panasonic
  10. Sony

Now let’s compare this to last year’s list:

  1. Nokia
  2. Sony Ericsson
  3. Philips
  4. HP
  5. Samsung
  6. Motorola
  7. Panasonic
  8. Sony
  9. Apple
  10. Dell

Nokia took a hit, dropping from first place to third, while HP rose from fourth to first. Motorola fell off the top ten entirely, while Lenovo made the cut this time around. Apple also improved, climbing from ninth place to fourth.

Do you take the environment into account when you buy new electronics?

No matter which brand you buy, remember to recycle responsibly!
